ABOUT THE PROJECT
Residences (SFD & ADU)
We have developed a project for a private house in the jurisdiction of San Diego County, California, USA, and successfully obtained a building permit. The project will commence shortly. The site features a challenging terrain (steep slope) and rocky soil. Additionally, American building codes impose significant restrictions on the placement of building footprints.
We designed two structures: the main house with a garage (SFD + JADU) and an additional dwelling unit (ADU).
The main house (SFD) has three floors (two above ground and a basement) and includes an autonomous apartment (JADU) with a separate entrance from the street.
  • The upper floor of the SFD features a garage, guest bathroom, living room, kitchen, and access to an open loggia.
  • The middle floor includes the individual JADU apartment and the SFD sleeping area (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, walk-in closets in each bedroom, and a laundry room on the floor).
  • The basement level contains two bedrooms with walk-in closets and a bathroom.
The ADU is a two-story building:
  • The first floor is dedicated to the common area: living room, kitchen, access to the loggia, guest bedroom, and guest bathroom.
  • The lower floor has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a laundry room.
Both buildings are designed in a modern style with flat roofs, stuccoed in white with accent black windows and decorative elements.
Team
"We eagerly took on this project with its challenging terrain and the client's specific requirements. It was essential to consider all their wishes and comply with all American building codes to obtain the construction permit. It's worth noting that we took over this project from an American architectural firm that couldn't reach the submission stage for city review in a year, whereas we obtained the permit in less than a year. That's impressive!"
